The Faculty of Informatics and Computing was officially approved in June 2006 by the Ministry of Higher Education. The faculty was established with the upgrading of Information Technology Center, Sultan Zainal Abidin Religious College (KUSZA). The Information Technology Center was officially established on 1 June 1997. Several academic programs related to ICT were carried out at the time including:

1. Diploma of Information Technology
2. Diploma of Information Technology [Multimedia]
3. Certificate of Information Technology
4. Certificate of Information Multimedia
5. Certificate of Computer Programming
6. Bachelor of Information Technology (Collaboration with Universiti Malaya)
7. Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems (Collaboration with University of East London)

The Faculty of Informatics and Computing is now led by a Dean with the help of three Deputy Dean and three Head of School. There are three schools in the Informational and Computerized Faculty which have been approved by the Senate of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), namely the School of Computer Science, the School of Information Technology and the School of Multimedia. The core activities of the faculty consist of teaching and learning, research and development and community service.
